Streaming concerts

We're receiving lots of email/comments on the streaming webcast, so it seemed sensible to start a new 'thread'.

Most of the comments are from people who are watching the webcast in high resolution with no problems at all (I've been testing it out on site with my laptop and a '3' mobile broadband modem and it works fine), but if appears there are a small number out there who are struggling in some areas.

If you're having trouble with stuttering streaming, no vision, or badly out of sync audio then please reconnect and try again - we know the feed is working as we're receiving loads of positive comments via email.

I am loving the streams, it did get a little jumpy last night, but for a free service one can not complain

For those struggling with the streaming content, setting the cache time to a higher value worked for me. 120 seconds seemed to be enough. Right click on the feed, go to options, change the setting and restart the feed.

And for the Linux users, I currently use the command "xine -V sdl mms://vista.streamguys.com/folkfestival" which does the trick for me at least. Adjust the -V parameter to other stuff shown by "xine --list-plugins=video_out" if the image looks odd.

Hope this all helps!

I'm greatly enjoying the streams from Groningen, the Netherlands, being unable to attend this year due to university planning exams awkwardly. It's great to catch at least a bit of the festival this way, though I really wish I was there.

Nothing last night, at all. Megson this afternoon, then nothing.

The intro tonight, then nothing again.

Please, is there any way these shows can be put on your website after the festival is over?

Again, we have people who are getting perfect streams and others who are struggling (even for the same concerts) - we're confident everything is fine at our side, so if you're having trouble, please persevere and try again.

Not sure of the Germany thing, the broadband on site comes through the satellite (rather than a landline), so I assume it's a German satellite?....I'll ask later this morning!

Have loved the streaming here in Malta. Some problems last night with SOH but I guess that was down to the volume of traffic. Still worth it to see the Spookies again, especially performing with SOH. Great stuff.

We have been watching from Spain and have received perfect picture and video - it's amazing. Mind you we are biased as our son Paul Ebrey was part of the team responsible for the webcast. Seriously though the webcast has been perfect at all times so well done to all involved for all your hard work.

Thank you for sharing the main stage events with the outside world. We couldn't get to the festival this year but still felt part of it. Sound and pictures were excellent, although reception in far-flung Broseley was patchy at busy times.

A great innovation.

Hi. Pat sorry it is i charles that got your poor son Paul into all this!!!
He is an outstanding network engineer and such a delight to work with.
WARNING Alan and Neil have made the fatal mistake of letting my mad engineers near there festival, they are already cooking new ideas for next year!!!!
The team agrees it has been a most special project and will be remembered for a considerabe time to come.
I and a would like to thank the team for being so dedicated, hard working, technically brilliant and wonderful people....
